HD DVD Format Wars Over?

The high-definition format wars might be thing of the past soon thanks to dual-format players that can handle movies on either HD DVD or Blu-ray discs. LG Electronics, released the first dual-format player in 2007, has just announced its successor; the LG Super Blu Player BH200.
With a network connection, the BH200 supports the HDi features included on many HD DVD titles, which allows viewers see things like storyboards, behind-the-scenes videos and production information. On the Blu-ray side, the player can show the picture-in-picture feature available on Blu-ray discs and supports interactive content like games and enhanced menus created on the BD-Java platform.
The LG BH200 will cost around a thousand bucks when it makes its way to stores in October. More information on LG’s Blu-ray/HD-DVD combo players is at us.lge.com/superblu/. Even if you haven’t built up a big library of high-definition discs yet, the BH200 can improve standard DVD titles to the high-quality 1080p screen resolution and play audio CDs as well.
